Ben Elton was originally best known for his stand-up comedy, liberal views and his work for television. On the little screen his work includes The Young Ones, Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line. He's also written a number of popular West End plays as well as two musicals: The Beautiful Game (with Andrew Lloyd Webber) and We Will Rock You (with Queen).
Ben Elton's writing career has also been marked with success and includes the Crime Writers' Association's Golden Dagger Award winning "Popcorn", Blast from the Past, Inconceivable and Dead Famous. All of which are marked with Elton's dry humour and telling insights. This mixture has meant he's becoming increasingly known as Ben Elton the novelist.
Ben Elton "the person" was born on 3rd May 1959 in Catford, South London. He still lives in London with his wife Sophie (who he met on tour in Australia) and 3 children.
