Gerald’s Game is set around a lakeside holiday cabin in the USA. A married couple, Jessie and Gerald, have gone there for a "naughty" break. However, during the game that Gerald likes to play Jessie realises that she's had enough. She wants him to stop, but he doesn't stop.

And quick as a flash Jessie finds herself tied to the bed, with a husband who appears to have died from a coronary. She can't escape, she can't even get off the bed...

The story then truly unfolds as Jessie finds she has to overcome obstacles such as getting water and of course the voices in her head. But the problems don't stop there. She has to face much worse fears.

Overall this is an OK book. No, that's not really fair, it's better than OK, but it's not excellent. The problem is that it starts off with Jessie going through an ordeal, and then it's followed up by more horrific incidents. I felt this stoped me from empathising with the character as much as I could, so alot of what followed lost its impact.

This loss of impact is also evident in Jessie's past. The book hinted at it for so long, and so obviously, that when it came to revelation time there was no shock, none of that "Oh my God" feeling that some of King's other books bring out.
